North Carolina is ground zero for scams that prey on older adults. This course will discuss the most prevalent of these scams, explaining how they work and what to look out for to avoid being victimized. The presenters will share real stories about recent scams that have targeted North Carolinians, including romance scams, lottery scams, and home improvement scams. Discussion will focus on tangible steps older adults can take to protect their assets from criminals who operate online, by phone, and by knocking on doors.
