Emotional Intelligence--Why Is It Important?

Held in person at McKimmon Center: How is emotional intelligence related to satisfying conversations and relationship development? This course will identify the aspects of emotional intelligence and provide an opportunity for learners to increase their competencies in them. We will examine how low emotional intelligence is correlated with poor conversational skills and develop techniques to increase emotional intelligence. Intelligence quotients are mostly stable throughout one’s lifespan but emotional intelligence is something that can be learned. Self-regulation, self-awareness, motivation, and empathy are aspects that we will examine.
