It's no secret that politics has been a favorite subject for filmmakers. From "The Birth Of A Nation" to "Mr. Smith Goes To Washington," "All the President's Men" to "Judas and the Black Messiah," politics has been in the cinematic mix. This course will feature political films from several countries, including, Greece, Italy, Germany and the U.S. A discussion will follow each screening. These films explore political issues from the 1920s-1970s; current political affairs will not be a focus of this course. Note: Some of these films contain violence, but not to an extreme degree. If you find cinematic violence of any kind disturbing, this course is not for you.
