Lecture -- Answering the Call: North Carolinians in Military Service

North Carolina has a rich military history and the military has a huge presence in the state today. Carolinians have always answered their country’s call in times of need. The North Carolina Museum of History’s new exhibit “Answering the Call: Experiences of North Carolina’s Military Veterans, 1898-1945” explores the military service of several dozen Carolinians in times of war as well as peace. This presentation examines the lives of some of the individuals featured in the exhibit, including Worth Bagley, Madelon “Glory” Hancock, Thomas Bullock, David Hardee, George Preddy, William Lee, Millie Dunn Veasey, and others.
