Lecture -- Decoys and Waterfowl Heritage of North Carolina



Discover the history and heritage of waterfowl hunting in North Carolina. Duck decoys and shorebird decoys were carved to support hunting efforts and have been regarded as the finest form of indigenous American folk art that exists today. We will discuss the impact of early market and shorebird hunting in North Carolina and the provision of lands and marshes for early gun clubs built on the Carolina coast. Early decoys will be on hand for display.
