Lecture -- The Impact of Sears and Roebuck on Rural America

Most people are aware of Sears, Roebuck, and Co., but you may not know the impact of the company on rural America. Sure, Sears and Roebuck sold household and farm-related items to millions of people, but they did much more than that. Some of the activities in which they were involved included paying salaries of county agents, loaning registered bulls to farmers to improve their livestock, producing agricultural movies, buying furs from farm kids, providing scholarships to go to college to study agriculture, conducting adult farmer short courses, selling barn kits similar to their housing kits, starting livestock chains, plus much more.
