Lecture -- The Transnational Context of “1619”

This lecture explores the 1619 landing of human cargo on the shores of Virginia, not as a starting point but one of many turning points in the history of slavery throughout the Americas. This lecture seeks to provide a better understanding of where this landing fits within in a longer history of the transatlantic slave trade and the enslavement of Africans.
