Natural Solutions to Climate Change

Preserving and restoring forests, grasslands, wetlands, and ocean ecosystems mitigates climate change by reducing greenhouse gas emissions, absorbing carbon dioxide, defending against flood and drought, and by providing biological habitat. We will explore the Carolinas, Everglades, Europe, Cuba, and Central America, learning about agroforestry, chestnut tree restoration, soil degradation and restoration, “blue carbon”, and how saving the whales helps reduce greenhouse gases. This course is based upon science, but you don’t need to be a scientist to participate and enjoy.
