Join Taste Carolina’s expert guides as OLLI explores downtown through a foodie’s lens. This tour will last approximately three and a half hours and covers three miles of restaurant experiences in downtown Raleigh! Southern Living Magazine states that Taste Carolina’s food tours are “a great way to learn about downtown’s gastronomic highlights”.
Note: Tour runs rain or shine - please dress for the weather and wear comfortable shoes. If you have food allergies, please indicate the specifics when registering. This information will be shared with Taste Carolina as they plan our walking tour to ensure that all participants will be able to enjoy the tastings. However, they cannot accommodate a Keto diet at this time.
Activity Level 3 - Be able to participate in 3-5 hours of daily physical movement, be able to stand or walk for over 2 hours with minimal opportunity for sitting, able to navigate stairs and inclines successfully. Example: Dix Park Walking Tour, Sylvan Heights Bird Sanctuary
Includes: Guided tour with 5 to 7 stops at downtown Raleigh establishments, intimate conversations with restaurant leaders and chefs, food samples plus a wine tasting, transportation on university bus, tour admission.
Instance 1 Departs: McKimmon Center at 10:00 a.m.
Instance 2 Departs: McKimmon Center at 1:00 p.m.
The bus will pick up outside the front entrance of the McKimmon Center a few minutes before departure. Please arrive in plenty of time to park your vehicle and meet the group outside the building. OLLI Special Programs Coordinator Lindsey Hale will meet you on arrival and will accompany the group on the study trip. You will receive a reminder email three business days before the date with further instructions.
Instance 1 Returns: Approximately 2:00 p.m. to the McKimmon Center
