Study Trip -- Exploring Raleigh’s African American History



OLLI instructor, Wanda Cox-Bailey, will lead members on a walk through sites of significance in Raleigh’s African American history, including downtown areas, and Mount Hope Cemetery. There will also be an opportunity to drive through some of the surrounding neighborhoods, such as Method and Nazareth.

Notes: Wear comfortable shoes and dress for the weather as we will be walking and standing for most of the tour. Participants will be required to comply with all NC State University COVID-19 directives in place at the time of this study trip. Details will be provided via email nearer the date.

Includes: Guided walking tour and transportation by NC State bus 

Depart: McKimmon Center at 9:45 am   

The bus will pick up outside the front entrance of the McKimmon Center a few minutes before departure. Please arrive in plenty of time to park your vehicle and meet the group. OLLI Assistant Director, Joan Hardman-Cobb, will meet you on arrival and will accompany the group on the study trip. You will receive a reminder email approximately one week before the date with further instructions on where to meet.

Return: Approximately 12:30 pm
