Study Trip - Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve

Escape into nature as we hike the Chestnut Oak Trail at Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve. The hike will be led by OLLI Member and J.C. Raulston Arboretum volunteer, Charlie Kidder. Hemlock Bluffs Nature Preserve is home to a unique community of Eastern Hemlock trees and other mountain plant species spanning 140 acres. There will be time to browse the exhibits in the Stevens Nature Center, which provides information about the local history, geology, and ecology. Restrooms are available next to the Center.

Note: Wear comfortable, closed-toe walking shoes and dress for the weather on the day. Take a walking cane or poles if you use them, snacks and a refillable beverage bottle to keep you hydrated throughout the day. Expect to walk on uneven ground and unpaved paths, but well-maintained trails.
