Study Trip -- NC Symphony Friday Favorites – All Mozart

This popular event at Meymandi Concert Hall is a great way to sample the range of the North Carolina Symphony orchestra. You will be sent a video of a pre-concert lecture via email a few days before the event (presenter TBA), which will prepare you for the performance and enhance your appreciation and enjoyment of each musical piece. Please note: If the Symphony resumes its in-person pre-concert lectures, our departure time will move to 10:30 a.m., so keep your schedule open!

Conductor: Evan Rogister

Violin: Randall Goosby

The program will feature:

  • Mozart: Violin Concerto No. 5 "Turkish"
  • Mozart: Symphony No. 41 “Jupiter”

Notes: Lunch is not included in the program so eat a hearty breakfast and bring a snack to eat on the bus.

COVID-19 protocols:  Participants will be required to comply with all NC Symphony and NC State University COVID-19 directives in place at the time of this study trip; current NC State protocols require wearing a mask on the trip to and from the Symphony. Currently, the NC Symphony requires all audience members to provide proof of full COVID-19 vaccination or, if they cannot be vaccinated, a negative COVID-19 PCR test completed within 72 hours prior to entering the venue. Everyone attending a NC Symphony performance will be required to wear a mask, regardless of vaccination status. Details of how to obtain the vaccination pass will be provided by OLLI after registration. Air circulation in the auditorium meets current DECPA COVID-19 health and safety requirements, including HVAC air filtration and circulation system requirements, utilizing enhanced cleaning procedures, and providing hand sanitizer throughout the venue.

Includes: Transportation on NC State University bus, ticket and lecture. If you find yourself unable to participate in this study trip, please contact the OLLI office, no substitutions are possible.

Depart: McKimmon Center at 11:30 a.m. (time will change to 10:30 a.m. if the Symphony resumes in-person pre-concert lectures; watch for emails from the OLLI office with updates).

The bus will pick up outside the front entrance of the McKimmon Center a few minutes before departure. Please arrive in plenty of time to park your vehicle and meet the group. OLLI Assistant Director, Joan Hardman-Cobb, will meet you on arrival and will accompany the group on the study trip. You will receive a reminder email approximately one week before the date with further instructions on where to meet and current COVID-19 protocols.

Return: Approximately 1:45 p.m.
