The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI), a unit of the McKimmon Center for Extension and Education, is sponsoring a shelf at the NC State University Food Pantry through April 2016. The pantry is a community-based initiative sustained by the greater NC State community to combat the food insecurity experienced by members of the Wolfpack community (students and staff). During the 2014-15 academic year, over 3.5 tons of food were distributed.
OLLI members are donating non-perishable breakfast foods, with the goal of collecting 300 pounds of food by the end of April. At the rate that donations have been coming in, that target should easily be exceeded!
There are collection bins in the OLLI classroom (room 11/12) and in the OLLI office (room 225) in the McKimmon Center. Staff and visitors are welcome to contribute–just drop your donations off at the OLLI office between 8:00 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
