Upper Coastal Plain Learning Council (UCPLC) Celebrates 5 Years of Serving Eastern North Carolina

The Upper Coastal Plain Learning Council (UCPLC), a unit of the McKimmon Center for Extension and Education, held a celebratory breakfast on April 12 to mark five years of  providing educational and professional development support for teachers, principals, and administrators, as well as increasing student success and retention, within five counties of eastern North Carolina (Edgecombe, Halifax, Nash, Northampton, and Wilson).  Alice Warren, Vice Provost for Continuing Education, welcomed attendees; Benjamin David, District Attorney for Prosecutorial District #05 and the morning’s featured speaker, presented on one of the UCPLC’s programs, Hometown Hires. Other speakers included Robert Evans, District Attorney, Prosecutorial District #07; Ginny Mohrbutter, Executive Director, United Way Tar River Region; Tommy Taylor, Executive Vice President, United Way of Cape Fear Area; Calvin Ballance, CEO, Ballanced Solutions, Inc.; and Trent Mohrbutter, Chair, UCPLC.
