Membership

The Osher Lifelong Learning Institute (OLLI) is a member-supported program, and membership is required to participate in most OLLI courses and programs. Members take an active role in the design and implementation of all our program offerings. We rely on members to serve as class hosts, suggest program ideas, contribute to a positive classroom environment, volunteer for one of the standing committees, or teach a class. All OLLI instructors volunteer, and we actively recruit new instructors from the community, area colleges and universities, and OLLI members. Contact us if you would like to learn more about these volunteer opportunities.

OLLI members also have access to many extracurricular benefits:

The Western Film Preservation Society, an affiliate of OLLI, meets the third Thursday of each month at 6:45 PM at the McKimmon Center to “keep B-Western movies alive for future generations to enjoy.” (Meets monthly except July, August, and December.) Click on the link to learn more!

What our members tell us about the benefits of participating in OLLI at NC State:

  • “It is wonderful to have the opportunity to study and learn just for the love of learning.”
  • “The courses expose me to a variety of subjects that I have not previously encountered.”
  • “OLLI has improved my mental well-being and activity level and has widened my social interaction. It is great to be able to discuss items of current or historical interest rather than gossip or TV shows.”
