Explore the basic building blocks of acting in this participatory performance course. Study essential acting concepts and apply them in short, simple two-person scenes and exercises. These short scene studies will provide limited detail on character and storyline emphasizing the importance of making strong, creative choices to breathe life into the written word. The course will explore how the commitment to the actor’s choices impacts the direction and energy of a scene. Additional goals of the class will be to increase self-awareness and confidence in presentational skills. Although the course is designed for the beginning actor, all levels of experience are welcome. Note: Memorization of the short scenes will prove useful to the participants in order to focus on applying the basic acting terminology rather than concerns over text.
