This lecture examines the intertwined relationship between cryptology and technology. Throughout American history, advancements in one pushed the development in the other. The need for secrecy or understanding secrets pushed developments in communication and computers. At the same time, advancements in those technologies forced improvements in cryptologic systems as well.
