First performed in 1935, critics call Porgy and Bess "the great American opera." Eric Mitchko, General Director of the North Carolina Opera, will present an in-depth look and listen to one of George Gershwin’s famous works. He will look at the literary sources for the piece, its stage history, and public reactions to it.
