Lecture -- NC State Dance Program: Sharing Our Immigration Stories

Tara Mullins first choreographed the dance piece Against the Railing in 2007. At the time, it was about her grandmother’s journey from Sicily to New York in the early 1900s. Her grandmother left behind her parents and worked on the factory lines to make a better life for her children. With the current conversations about immigration, Mullins decided to expand the piece to include filmed immigration stories from NC State faculty, staff and students. In this session you will watch some of these captivating stories, and hear from NC State students as they discuss their stories and the project overall. To conclude the session, you will have the opportunity to share your own stories in a relaxed and creative way.
