Lecture -- Perdurabo: The Life of Aleister Crowley

Controversial Edwardian occultist, poet, author, mountaineer, spy, leader of two secret societies, and founder of his own religious philosophy called Thelema, Aleister Crowley (1875-1947) continues to fascinate 75 years after his death, even as his life and works have increasingly become the subject of serious academic study. This lecture will examine his larger-than-life biography, and show that the truth is even more fascinating than the many urban legends and misunderstandings which surround him and his creed of "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law."
