Hunting trophies, artistic expression or for educational display, the pursuit of preserving lifelike animal specimens goes back over 500 years. Taxidermy in all its branches is a collage of art, science, and craftsmanship. This lecture will cover the evolution of many of the numerous taxidermy processes as well as the motivation to create the illusion of life.
