New Science on Achieving Happiness, Well-Being and Longevity

Most people already know about the advantages of meditation, exercise, sleep, diet and mindfulness. This course deals with other activities that promote wellbeing, happiness, and longevity, such as storytelling, writing, escaping the hedonic treadmill, religion, spirituality, and nourishing your relationships. This is a “hands on” course designed for seniors and depends heavily on the participation of class members. We will view and discuss recent videos made by scientists who study human well-being. As each of us are different in our genes, desires, experiences, world views, and many other ways, we will use in-class exercises, and work in small groups to explore what might work for each of us in promoting well-being and longevity for ourselves, loved ones, friends and communities. Note: please only enroll in this course if you are willing to participate in class discussion.
