North Carolina Notary Public Course



This course is designed to prepare you for commission, appointment, or re-commissioning as a notary public in the state of North Carolina. The topics covered will include the history of the Office of Notary Public, North Carolina General Statute 10B provisions and standards, commissioning, notarial powers and limitations, signature and seal, and general requirements for notarial acts, including ethical responsibilities, changes in status, enforcement, sanctions, and remedies. Students will learn how to successfully execute acknowledgements, oaths and affirmations, verifications and proofs, inventory abandoned safe deposit boxes and notarize voter absentee ballots. The course covers the ethical guidelines notaries must follow, the proper way to record information in the journal and the statutory methods to verify the identity of document signers. You will also be instructed on the application process and contact information for the Notary Public Division of the North Carolina Secretary of State’s Office. 

You must bring to class a current government-issued identification card.

Your registration fee includes attendance, liquid refreshment break, necessary supplies, reference materials, and the text book NC Notary Public Manual.
