Quantum Physics: A Historical View

On a fundamental level, quantum physics determines the nature of atoms, molecules, and indeed the entire world we live in. The physics making our modern world possible, like cellphones, TVs, and computers, often seems bizarre and to defy common sense. This course covers efforts over the last century to discover the basic physical principles of the microscopic quantum world with emphasis on central ideas and the major personalities involved. Mathematics is the language of science but, while some math is presented in this course, the majority of the ideas should be understandable with a limited math background.
