The transition from a barter to a market-based exchange economy led to the emergence of money and financial intermediaries---places where we could put our money safely until we needed to buy something. We’ll examine the evolution of money and financial intermediaries from stones through crypto and see how these operated, especially during the financial crises of the last 100 years.
